Due to to the rise in digital media over the past 5 years, it has become more apparent that digital design is now more desirable and contemporary to the industry.
Digital design is an important medium for a print designer to work in consideration of, as the industry is moving fast, and forward. The internet is a powerful tool for many things, and mediums such as tablets and smart phones are becoming the most popular platform for how we access online resources.
As a print designer, for me it is very important to show versatile skills that I can work in consideration of digital media as well as print. The archiving of information, working in consideration of what the ipad and iphone and various devices can offer as a platform.
The Sussex Coast College website, like many others, is very limited when being viewed on a tablet or smart phone. The information and links are very small, which make it hard to function and navigate. the website itself is supported by flash, which the iphone and some devices do not support.
What I propose, is to re-design and archive the site to it is compatible for smart phones, and also introducing new opportunities for what digital media can provide the College, for example ebooks, navigational map for existing students, and new visitors.
New Hiaracy for Digital Media:
The new hiaracy will allow easy use for potential students and visitors, and will show evidence of user interaction that will provide a service that is justified via a downloadable app.
This is the future of how we will see websites and how digital media can provide a platform for new and exciting services.
