Design signed off

Now that the design has been signed off by the head of marketing Justin Rollings, we are now at the stage of waiting for a final start date from the developers.

W look forward to seeing the app live in the next coming months.

The next stage of this project, is to supply the developers with all buttons and elements needed from the design in order to get the app up and running. For me this project has not finished yet, and I am on my way to finalizing a professional project, working with various people in the industry, which was what this project was all about for me.

Emails confirming meetings etc

After having re designed to the quality it needs to be, the next stage was to have a meeting with the marketing director of the college, to see what they thought.

The feedback was brilliant and they had loved what I produced, and we discussed the functionality and was signed off that afternoon. Ready for me to re submit to the web developers.

New Interface Design

The new interface design works just like the previous design, however this is more interesting with the scrolling slide show at the top giving it that more interactive feel, than having something that is static on the screen.

Introducing new Design

After having looked at the first design, I felt there was a few issues with the linkage, and the information inside the links. Also the design on the previous pages, there was not much interactive element going on. Here I have included an automatic slide show that runs while you are on the app. The images also correspond with the link that has been selected, for example, the news links, would have a scrolling slideshow of the events in the past at scch.

I have also added and design some buttons that run along the bottom of the app, so that all the information fits easier within the format on a mobile phone.

This is the new design which I will then purpose to the marketing director of the college for his approval.

27th April 2012 Meeting with developers

On the 27th April I contacted the app developers to arrange a meeting to discuss the design for the SCCH application where we met at the Ashford International Hotel.

We covered rather a lot about the target audience and who would actually be downloading this application. The target audience is new expecting students in 2012/2013, and the app in phase one is about what the college has to offer for that particular student as a whole, for example news & events, photos, videos, courses etc.

As far as the design goes for the app as a whole, the developers were happy with the general feel, look and functionality.

Design more refined

Here is a more defined look for the first initail design layout for the application. The design is as simple as it can get, with a header, links and a footer.

This is also how it looks on various androids and smart phones.

First initial design

From various research and drawings, I made the decision to start designing the app, to gain an understanding of space and how the app could look on a portrait format.

This design is made up of a changeable header, with the logo beside. Links using the brand colours, with the social networking links below.

Something to work off, and show to the developers in our meeting arranged.
